Srinagar, Nov 14 ( KINS ): In a recent inspection at Jammu and Kashmir’s Shopian District Hospital, authorities found over 90% of the hospital staff, including doctors, absent from duty. The surprise inspection, conducted by the additional deputy commissioner at 10:10 a.m. on orders from the deputy commissioner, revealed significant staff absenteeism, with only 17 out of 198 employees present.
The biometric attendance report, provided by the hospital’s medical superintendent, confirmed the unauthorized absence of 181 employees, including doctors, medical officers, paramedical staff, and administrative personnel. This irregular attendance has reportedly caused considerable inconvenience for the public, according to officials.
In response, the deputy commissioner’s office issued a circular mandating a one-day salary deduction for any employee found absent without authorization, with the deducted amount to be directed to the District Red Cross Society.
The deputy commissioner ordered the hospital’s medical superintendent to request written explanations from the absent employees, addressing their negligence and lack of responsibility. Employees are required to submit responses within three days, along with the medical superintendent’s comments and recommendations. If no response is received, it will be assumed the employees have no defense, and further disciplinary action, including salary deductions, will proceed.( KINS)
