BJP expecting ‘over 2 Lakh new members in its ongoing membership drive’

Ishtiyaq Kar

Srinagar, Nov 18 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) stated on Monday that the ongoing “Sadasyata Abhiyan” (primary membership drive ) , launched on November 6 in the union territory, has been making remarkable progress.
The BJP said that initially delayed due to the assembly elections in JK, its membership drive is now gaining traction in Kashmir, expecting over 2 lakh new members from the Valley alone.
The nationwide membership campaign began with Prime Minister Narendra Modi renewing his primary membership, setting the tone for the party’s push for grassroots expansion across India.
“In 2014, we crossed 6 lakh members, and in 2019, we achieved 16 lakh 67 thousand. This growth played a key role in securing a historic mandate in J&K’s assembly elections. For this drive, we are aiming for 15 lakh primary members,” said a senior BJP leader.
Altaf Thakur, a prominent BJP leader said, “We encourage everyone to join by giving a missed call to 8800002024 and completing the form via the link received in the SMS. The response so far has been overwhelming. We are expecting more than 2 Lakh new members in this drive,” he told news agency KINS.
The BJP views the “Sadasyata Abhiyan” as crucial to expanding its presence in the Valley, where it has faced challenges in gaining widespread acceptance.
BJP leaders remain confident about achieving their ambitious membership target, which they believe will further consolidate the party’s position in Jammu and Kashmir.(KINS)
