Srinagar, November 18 ( KINS ) : In a major breakthrough, police in Awantipora, in coordination with the Army (42RR) and CRPF (180BN), arrested a terrorist affiliated with the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT) outfit. The arrest was made in the Pinglish area of Tral on the basis of specific intelligence inputs.
The terrorist has been identified as Irshad Ahmad Chopan, son of Ab Rahman Chopan, a resident of Lurgam, Tral. During the operation, security forces recovered incriminating materials, including:
A pistol , 18 pistol rounds , 2 magazines , Terror activities and previous Case .According to a police spokesperson, preliminary investigations revealed that Irshad was involved in multiple terror-related activities in the South Kashmir region. Notably, he was implicated in an FIR No. 114/2024 under various sections of the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act and the Indian Arms Act.
The case pertains to an incident on October 24, 2024, where an outside laborer, Shubam Kumar, a resident of Bijnore, Uttar Pradesh, was critically injured in a firing incident in Tral. Irshad’s involvement in this attack has been confirmed.
The police have stated that further investigations are underway to uncover more details regarding his connections and planned activities. Security forces continue to maintain heightened vigilance in the region to thwart such incidents in the future.( KINS )
