Jammu has been victim of political neglect, time to make it part of India’s mainstream growth: Dr Jitendra Singh

Jammu, Nov 23 (KINS) :Minister of State in the Prime Minister’s Office (PMO) Dr Jitendra Singh today highlighted the government’s focus on integrating Jammu into India’s mainstream growth.
Speaking at an event in Jammu, Singh acknowledged the region’s history of underdevelopment, infrastructure gaps, and political neglect in the past.
However, he expressed confidence that Jammu is poised for a transformative phase.
Singh noted that Jammu’s potential, coupled with its strategic location, positions it for significant progress.
“The government is actively addressing the region’s developmental challenges through initiatives aimed at improving infrastructure, healthcare, education, and industrial growth,” he said, adding that the key projects like world-class highways, the Udhampur-Srinagar-Baramulla Rail Link, and the expansion of Jammu Airport are enhancing connectivity, while the development of institutions like AIIMS is improving healthcare access.
Additionally, Singh said the government is working to boost Jammu’s tourism sector, focusing on pilgrimage sites such as Vaishno Devi, and promoting agro-industries to empower local farmers.
Singh’s vision calls for a unified effort to overcome historical challenges and ensure that Jammu becomes a significant contributor to India’s economic growth, representing a story of resilience, opportunity, and national progress.(KINS)
