Srinagar, Dec 11 (KINS): As part of its ongoing efforts to combat drug abuse in the region, Baramulla Police have arrested three drug peddlers and seized a substantial quantity of contraband substances.
A team from Police Station Pattan, led by SHO PS Pattan, intercepted a vehicle (Ertiga, registration number JK05M-8404) at a checkpoint near Railway Crossing, Pattan. The vehicle was occupied by three individuals, identified as:
Jhon Mohd Mir, son of Gh Mohd Mir, resident of Nillah Palpora
Mohd Yaqoob Mir, son of Late Ab Aziz, resident of Nillah Palpora
Faisal Ahmad Hajam, son of Gh Qadir, resident of Pushwari, Anantnag
Upon searching the vehicle, the police recovered 78 grams of contraband Charas (in powder form) from their possession. The three suspects have been arrested and are currently under custody at Police Station Pattan. The vehicle involved in the crime has also been seized.
A case has been registered at Police Station Pattan under the relevant sections of the law, and an investigation is underway.
Baramulla Police urge the public to report any incidents of drug peddling or other criminal activities to the nearest police station or by dialing 112. Community cooperation is essential in the fight against drug abuse. Baramulla Police remain committed to taking stringent legal action against those involved in illegal activities.(KINS)
