Awantipora/ Sopore, Jan 13 (KINS): Continuing its drive to eradicate the menace of drugs, the police have arrested three drug peddlers in Awantipora and Sopore, recovering substantial quantities of contraband substances from their possession.
In Awantipora, a police team established a checkpoint at Datpora Dogripora, where they intercepted and arrested two individuals:
Bilal Ahmad Lohrihanji, son of Ali Mohammad Lohrihanji, resident of Gund Prang Hajin Bandipora. Reyaz Ahmad Mir, son of Ab Gani Mir, resident of Datapora Dogripora.
A search of the suspects resulted in the recovery of 1.460 kilograms of ground cannabis powder.
In Sopore, during patrolling at Harwan, a police team led by SHO PS Bomai, under the supervision of SDPO Sopore, apprehended another drug peddler: Manzoor Ahmad Mochi, son of Mohammad Shaban Mochi, resident of Harwan Sopore.
During the search, 137 grams of charas were seized from his possession.
All three individuals have been arrested, and cases under relevant sections of the law have been registered at their respective police stations. Investigations are ongoing.
