JAMMU, JANUARY 24: Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha inaugurated the ‘BRICS Youth Council Entrepreneurship Run-up Event’ at the Indian Institute of Management (IIM) Jammu today.
In his address, the Lieutenant Governor extended his congratulations to the Ministry of Youth Affairs & Sports, the Global Counter Terrorism Council (GCTC), IIM Jammu, and all partner organizations for creating a dynamic platform where innovators, aspiring entrepreneurs, and youth leaders can present innovative business ideas and entrepreneurial initiatives.
The Lieutenant Governor emphasized the government’s transformative initiatives through the Department of Industries & Commerce that have redefined the innovation and entrepreneurship ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir, empowering the region’s youth. He noted that in recent years, J&K’s industrial ecosystem has seen an unprecedented surge, fostering a culture of innovation, research, development, and scientific advancements. “I want to see our youth among the top entrepreneurs in the country, contributing to its growth,” he said.
He further highlighted the government’s sincere efforts and policy interventions, which have positioned J&K as a vibrant startup hub.
The Lieutenant Governor also shared details about key initiatives, such as Mission Yuva, which aims to develop a robust business support ecosystem for the youth of J&K. He emphasized the ongoing reforms in the education sector, particularly in equipping youth with skills related to Industry 4.0 technologies. “We continue to focus on policies to promote incubation centers and provide better resources and support for new startups,” said LG Sinha. “I want our youth to dream, dedicate themselves, and contribute to building a dynamic J&K, propelling its growth to new heights.”
The Lieutenant Governor stressed the importance of bridging the academia-industry divide to meet future challenges, asserting that human resources need to be equipped with market-driven skills.
He also acknowledged the growing significance of youth entrepreneurship globally. “This mission is not only important for India but also for the world, as both the Global North and South are looking to their young populations to tackle the biggest developmental challenges of the 21st century,” LG Sinha said.
Discussing the ongoing industrial revolution in J&K, the Lieutenant Governor noted the tangible results of the Central Sector Industrial Development Scheme, which is transforming the region. He also emphasized the crucial role educational institutions and youth play in shaping India as a knowledge economy, and achieving the vision of Viksit Bharat (Developed India).
Prof. BS Sahay, Director of IIM Jammu, shared the institution’s vision of developing youth into future business leaders and entrepreneurs. A detailed presentation on the key objectives of Mission Yuva was also given during the event.
The event was attended by Sh. Atal Dulloo, Chief Secretary; Sh. SP Vaid, former DGP of J&K; heads of various departments, senior officials, members of the Global Counter Terrorism Council, young entrepreneurs, innovators, youth leaders, and industry experts.(KINS)
