Srinagar, Jan 28 (KINS): The National Investigation Agency (NIA) conducted extensive searches on Tuesday at six locations across three districts of Jammu and Kashmir in connection with a Lashkar-e-Taiba (LeT)-linked case involving the killing of two non-local civilians.
As per the details available with news agency KINS, the case pertains to the attack on February 7, 2024, when terrorists opened fire on two civilians from Chamyari in Amritsar, Punjab, at Shalla Kadal in the Shaheed Ganj area of Srinagar. Amritpal Singh died on the spot, while the other victim, Rohit Masi, succumbed to his injuries the following day at a Srinagar hospital.
“The searches, carried out in Srinagar, Budgam, and Sopore districts, were linked to case RC-01/2024/NIA/JMU, registered by the NIA on June 15, 2024, following directions from the Ministry of Home Affairs. Four individuals had previously been charge-sheeted in the case”.
“During the raids, NIA teams seized incriminating materials from the homes of sympathizers, cadres, and overground workers (OGWs) of the banned terror group LeT and its offshoot, The Resistance Front (TRF). The suspects are believed to have provided shelter, support, and logistical aid to terrorists”.
“NIA’s investigation has revealed that LeT and TRF masterminds were in contact with local youth in the Kashmir Valley to plan attacks on non-locals as part of a broader conspiracy to wage war against the Government of India. The planning reportedly involved physical meetings as well as communication through encrypted social media platforms”.
The seized materials are being examined as the NIA continues its probe into the case.(KINS)
