Indian Army fully prepared to handle any border challenge: LG Sinha

Jammu, Feb 19 (KINS): In the wake of recent cross-border firing incidents and an IED attack along the Line of Control (LoC), Jammu and Kashmir Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Monday reaffirmed the Indian Army’s ability to handle any situation along the borders.
He assured that the Army is providing a strong and befitting response to enemy forces.
Speaking on the sidelines of a sports event as per news agency KINS, the Lt Governor emphasized that there will be no pause in anti-terror operations, as security agencies have been directed to eradicate terrorism and ensure peace in the region.
“The Indian Army is fully capable and is giving a befitting response along the border,” Sinha said, responding to queries regarding the recent incidents along the LoC in the Jammu region.
His remarks come in the aftermath of an Improvised Explosive Device (IED) attack in the Akhnoor sector on February 11, which claimed the lives of two Army personnel, including a captain. Additionally, two soldiers sustained injuries in separate instances of cross-border firing in Rajouri and Poonch districts, while another was wounded in a landmine explosion last week.
The retaliatory action by the Indian Army resulted in “heavy casualties” on the Pakistani side. Notably, ceasefire violations along the borders in Jammu and Kashmir have been rare since India and Pakistan reaffirmed the ceasefire agreement on February 25, 2021.
Lt Governor Sinha further stated that security forces, including the police, are working in close coordination, with explicit instructions to dismantle the terror infrastructure.
“There will be no pause in anti-terrorism operations. Our top priority remains maintaining peace and tranquillity in Jammu and Kashmir,” he asserted.
Security agencies continue to remain on high alert, ensuring that hostile elements are neutralized, and stability is upheld in the region.(KINS)
