Light rain, snow and thunderstorms forecast from April 8

Srinagar, Apr 7 (KINS): The Meteorological Department has predicted light rain and snowfall over the higher reaches of north and central Kashmir on April 8, along with thunderstorms and gusty winds in the days that follow.

A department official said the weather will remain generally cloudy by the afternoon of April 8, with the possibility of light snowfall over the higher elevations of north and central Kashmir towards late evening.

From April 9 to 10, the weather is expected to stay cloudy with intermittent spells of light rain and snow in many parts of the Kashmir division, and at scattered locations in the Jammu division. Thunderstorms accompanied by gusty winds reaching speeds of 30–40 kmph are also likely in a few areas. Farmers have been advised to suspend farming activities during this period.

The official added that April 11 will begin with generally cloudy skies and light precipitation over higher reaches, but weather conditions are expected to improve as the day progresses.

Dry weather is likely to prevail across Jammu and Kashmir from April 12 to 17. However, a fresh spell of rain and snow is expected over the higher reaches between April 18 and 20.

Tourists, travelers, and transporters have been urged to stay updated with official advisories from the administration and traffic department to avoid disruptions.(KINS)
