Police Recover 1.216 Kgs of Brown Sugar in Baramulla; One Arrested

Baramulla, April 8 (KINS):In a major breakthrough in the fight against drug trafficking, Baramulla Police apprehended a drug peddler and recovered a significant quantity of contraband in the Boniyar area of the district.

During the intervening night of April 7 and 8, 2025, a police team deployed at Bernate Bala, Boniyar, intercepted a suspicious individual identified as Manzoor Ahmad Mir, son of Late Hafiz-Ullah Mir, a resident of Bernate, Boniyar. Upon search, officers recovered 1.216 kilograms of a substance believed to be Brown Sugar, along with a digital weighing machine.

The accused was immediately taken into custody. A case under FIR No. 25/2025 has been registered at Police Station Boniyar under relevant sections of the NDPS Act. Further investigation is underway to identify and apprehend others involved in the illegal narcotics network and to trace the origin of the seized contraband.(KINS)
