No question of alignment with BJP, says NC’s Nasir Aslam Wani
Srinagar, April 15 (KINS): National Conference (NC) leader and advisor to the Chief Minister, Nasir Aslam Wani, on Tuesday categorically ruled out any political understanding or alliance with the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), asserting that the two parties share no ideological or political common ground.
Addressing reporters in Srinagar, Wani said, “There is no alignment, no agreement, and no common page between the National Conference and the BJP. We will not repeat the mistake made by the PDP.”
Taking a pointed jab at the People’s Democratic Party (PDP), he added, “Instead of targeting the National Conference, PDP should reflect on the decisions it took while in power. That chapter left a deep impact on the people of Jammu and Kashmir.”
Wani also came down heavily on the recently amended Waqf Act, describing it as an assault on religious autonomy. “The Waqf Bill is a direct attack on our religion. It is not just injustice—it is interference in our religious affairs,” he said.
He confirmed that the National Conference, along with several other religious and political organizations, has challenged the legislation in the Supreme Court. “We have filed a petition in the apex court. Let the law take its course, but our stand is clear—this law is unacceptable,” he asserted.(KINS)
