RDD&PR mobilises mass participation for PM-DDKY launch across panchayats

Jammu October 11: Panchayats across Jammu and Kashmir today successfully live-streamed the national launch of the PM Dhan Dhaanya Krishi Yojana (PM-DDKY) by Prime Minister Narendra Modi.

The event saw enthusiastic participation from farmers, beneficiaries, and officials of the Department of Rural Development and Panchayati Raj (RDD&PR), who gathered at their respective Panchayat Bhawans to witness the historic launch.

The RDD&PR Department mobilised people across Panchayats to actively participate in the event, ensuring wide reach and community involvement.

Under the supervision of RDD&PR, officers at all levels ensured wide public participation and awareness about the scheme, which aims to empower farmers through modern, sustainable, and technology-driven agricultural practices.

Notably, Kishtwar and Baramulla have been selected under the scheme, which targets 100 underperforming districts nationwide to enhance agricultural productivity and farmers’ income.

PM on Saturday launched two major schemes for the agriculture sector with a combined outlay of Rs 35,440 crore, including a pulses mission aimed at reducing import dependency.

The ‘Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses’, with an outlay of Rs 11,440 crore, aims at increasing pulses production from the current 252.38 lakh tonne to 350 lakh tonne by the 2030-31 crop year and reducing the country’s import dependency.

The scheme will focus on enhancing productivity, promoting crop diversification, improving irrigation and storage, and ensuring credit access in the select 100 districts.
