J&K Police arrests absconder evading arrest for eight years in Sopore

Srinagar, Oct 12 (KINS): In a major success against absconders and proclaimed offenders, the Jammu and Kashmir Police in Sopore have arrested a wanted accused who had been evading arrest for the past eight years.

The arrested individual has been identified as Javid Ahmad Ahanger, son of Ali Mohammad Ahanger, a resident of Judinambal Panzla. He was wanted in Case FIR No. 31/2014 under Sections 457 and 380 RPC of Police Station Sopore.

Reports said the accused had been on the run since 2017, deliberately avoiding arrest. Acting on specific intelligence, a dedicated police team successfully traced and apprehended him after sustained efforts.

After completing the necessary legal formalities, the accused was produced before the Hon’ble Court of Chief Judicial Magistrate Sopore and later lodged in Subsidiary Jail Sopore.

The J&K Police reaffirmed their commitment to upholding the rule of law, stating that strict action will continue against all absconders and proclaimed offenders to ensure that “no one evading justice remains beyond the reach of law.”(KINS)
