Rashtriya Ekta Diwas celebrated across J&K: J&K Police organises ‘Run for Unity’, pledge ceremonies, exhibitions and plantation drives

Srinagar, October 31 (KINS): As part of the nationwide celebrations commemorating the 150th Birth Anniversary of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel and the observance of Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, Jammu and Kashmir Police organised a series of events across Srinagar, Bandipora, Kulgam, and Baramulla districts, including Run for Unity, pledge ceremonies, exhibitions, awareness programmes, and plantation drives.

In Srinagar, a grand Run for Unity was held at Ghanta Ghar, Lal Chowk, flagged off by ADGP Armed Anand Jain, with IGP Kashmir V.K. Birdi, DIG CKR Rajiv Pandey, and SSP Srinagar among those present. Actor Mukesh Rishi graced the occasion as a special guest, adding enthusiasm to the event.

The programme included an Ekta Pledge ceremony, photo exhibition, and large-scale Ekta Tree Plantation Drive across police establishments. Senior officers, including SP Headquarters Shah Umar, DySP Headquarters Syed Sleet Shah, and DySP DAR Mohd Rafee, led lectures and awareness sessions on the life and legacy of Sardar Vallabhbhai Patel.

In Kulgam, the Run for Unity was flagged off by DIG South Kashmir Range Javid Iqbal Mattoo-IPS, along with Brigadier Sudhir Kumar Singh, VSM, SSP Kulgam Anayat Ali Choudhary, and former cricketer Parvez Rasool Dar. Youth, students, and civil society members participated with patriotic fervour.

In Bandipora, the main Run for Unity was flagged off by the Deputy Commissioner and SSP Bandipora, accompanied by officers from CRPF and the civil administration. Awareness programmes, exhibitions, and pledge ceremonies were also held across police establishments.

In Baramulla, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas was observed through pledge ceremonies, plantation drives, and joint parades, highlighting unity, integrity, and national integration. Police officials, civil society members, and students took the Ekta Pledge to uphold peace, harmony, and brotherhood.(KINS)
