Body of Delhi blast victim Bilal Ahmad Sangoo reaches home in Kashmir

Srinagar, Nov 19 (KINS): Grief has enveloped the Wangath area of Kangan in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district after the mortal remains of a young labourer, killed in the recent Delhi blast, reached his native village Baba Nagri on Wednesday.

The victim, 28-year-old Bilal Ahmad Sangoo, was among those killed in the November 10 Red Fort blast in New Delhi. His family identified him after frantic efforts to trace his whereabouts in the capital.

Bilal had been working in New Delhi for several years to support his family, driving an autorickshaw and taking up labour jobs to make ends meet. Relatives and neighbours said he had left home with the hope of securing a better future for his family, but returned in a coffin.

As the body reached his ancestral home, heart-rending scenes according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS) were witnessed, with wails echoing through the narrow lanes of Baba Nagri.

Scores of people from Wangath and adjoining areas thronged the village to participate in his last rites and express solidarity with the bereaved family.

Local residents and family members demanded adequate compensation and support for the family of the deceased. (KINS)
