Srinagar, May 20 (KINS): Continuing its crackdown against narcotics-related activities under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Jammu and Kashmir Police on Tuesday demolished an illegally constructed property allegedly linked to a wanted drug peddler in Srinagar’s Lal Bazar area.

Police said the demolished structure comprised a two-storey building along with an adjoining room and washroom constructed on State land at Haka Bazar, Lal Bazar.

The property, spread over around nine marlas and estimated to be worth nearly ₹1.5 crore, was allegedly linked to Arshid Ahmed Sheikh, son of Wali Mohammad Sheikh, a resident of Haka Bazar Lal Bazar, who is wanted in multiple cases registered under the NDPS Act.

According to police, the accused is involved in FIR No. 31/2025 under Sections 8/21 and 22 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Janipur Jammu, and FIR No. 50/2025 under Section 8/20 of the NDPS Act registered at Police Station Lal Bazar.

The demolition drive was carried out in the presence of the Executive Magistrate Khanyar and officials of the Srinagar Municipal Corporation. Police said the action was taken strictly in accordance with law as part of efforts to dismantle infrastructure and financial networks created through the narcotics trade.

J&K Police reiterated its commitment to eradicating the drug menace and appealed to the public to share information related to drug peddling and other illegal activities with authorities.(KINS)
