Jammu Police bust major cross-border Narco-terror racket

Jammu, Dec 04 (KINS): In a major breakthrough, Jammu Police on Thursday announced the busting of a cross-border narco-terrorism network, arresting six individuals and seizing nearly 5 kg of heroin along with a cache of weapons. The recovered contraband is valued at over ₹30 crore in the international market, officials said.

Superintendent of Police Ajay Sharma said the operation led to the arrest of six members of the racket, four of whom have been remanded to judicial custody. Police recovered 4.95 kg of heroin and three pistols, exposing a well-coordinated drug trafficking module with links to Pakistani handlers.

“This is a major narco-terror racket. Their digital footprints confirmed their connection with Pakistani suppliers who are pushing narcotics to target and destroy our next generation,” SP Sharma told reporters. He said the accused were working to fuel an “unconventional war” against the country.

Police have invoked sections of the UAPA in addition to registering a case under the NDPS Act at Gandhi Nagar Police Station.

According to officials, most members of the racket hail from areas close to the Indo-Pak border, underlying concerns about the growing nexus between drug trafficking and terrorism in the region.(KINS)
