Congress marks 141st foundation day in Srinagar

Srinagar, Dec 28 (KINS): The Jammu and Kashmir Pradesh Congress Committee (JKPCC) observed the party’s 141st Foundation Day at its Srinagar office. JKPCC President Tariq Hameed Karra led senior leaders, district and block presidents, and party workers on the occasion.
Addressing the gathering, Karra recalled the Congress party’s sacrifices and contributions to nation-building, people’s empowerment, and maintaining unity and harmony in the country. He reaffirmed the party’s commitment to protect the Constitution of India under the leadership of Congress President Mallikarjun Kharge, CPP Chairperson Sonia Gandhi, and Rahul Gandhi.
Karra said every Congress worker is duty-bound to safeguard the Constitution, democracy, and democratic institutions, which ensure justice and equality for all. He extended greetings to party workers, praising their dedication and stating that Congress remains a unifying force that protects the constitutional rights of all citizens, irrespective of caste, religion, region, or colour.
Urging party workers to strengthen the organisation at the grassroots level, Karra stressed that serving the people remains the core principle of the Congress. He added that the party will continue to fight divisive forces and protect the country’s secular fabric, unity, and harmony.
During the programme, party leaders took a pledge to protect the Constitution, administered by Karra.
Later, the JKPCC President chaired a monthly conference of Block Presidents from across the Kashmir region. Block Presidents briefed him about organisational activities, political programmes, and the socio-political situation in their respective areas. Karra highlighted the key role of Block Congress Committees (BCCs) in strengthening the party structure.
On the occasion, Karra also distributed appreciation certificates to Block Presidents and workers for their active role in the Congress movement “Hamari Riyasat Hamar Haq,” launched for the restoration of full statehood to Jammu and Kashmir.
Senior Congress leaders, legislators, former legislators, district presidents, heads of frontal organisations, and block presidents from across Kashmir attended the programme.(KINS)
