J&K celebrates Holi with vibrant colors, unity, and festive spirit

Srinagar, Mar 14 (KINS): The festival of Holi was celebrated with traditional fervor and festivity across Jammu and Kashmir on Friday, bringing together people from different communities in a joyous display of colors, music, and harmony.

In the Jammu region, people smeared colors on each other, danced to the beats of drums, and exchanged sweets.

News agency KINS reported that at many places, members of other communities joined the celebrations alongside their Hindu and Sikh friends, extending greetings and savoring festive delicacies. Jammu city was abuzz with young enthusiasts crisscrossing different localities, drenched in colors. Security arrangements were in place to ensure peaceful celebrations.

Security forces, including the Army, BSF, and CRPF, celebrated Holi with enthusiasm at their posts across J&K, including on the International Border (IB) and the Line of Control (LoC). Officers and personnel played with colors and enjoyed the festival to the fullest.

In the Kashmir Valley, Hindu and Sikh communities, along with security personnel, observed Holi with traditional gaiety and joy. Away from their families, Army and paramilitary personnel gathered at their camps, dancing to popular Holi songs and applying colors to each other.

Adding to the festive spirit, tourists in Kashmir also took part in the celebrations, receiving warm wishes from locals.

In Maharaja Bazaar, known for selling festival-related products, shopkeepers offered special discounts on Holi items, attracting enthusiastic buyers.

The border districts of Rajouri and Poonch also witnessed grand Holi celebrations.

Meanwhile, Army officers organized Holi Milan programs with villagers in different areas. Sweets were distributed, and villagers, especially children, joined in the celebrations.(KINS)
