J&K High Court quashes PSA detention of Mehraj Malik

J&K High Court quashes PSA detention of Mehraj Malik
Srinagar, Apr 27: The High Court of Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh on Monday quashed the Public Safety Act (PSA) detention order against Mehraj Malik, allowing his habeas corpus petition and directing authorities to release him immediately.
In its ruling, the court observed that the detention order did not withstand legal scrutiny, citing procedural lapses and lack of sufficient grounds to justify continued detention under the PSA.
Malik had challenged his detention through a habeas corpus plea, arguing that his arrest was arbitrary and in violation of his fundamental rights. After hearing both sides, the court ruled in his favor, setting aside the detention order. (KINS)
