Lieutenant Governor attends ‘Rishiwar’ inter-faith conference 2026 in Srinagar

Srinagar, June 04 (KINS): Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha on Thursday attended the ‘Rishiwar’ Inter-Faith Conference 2026 in Srinagar, where he highlighted India’s centuries-old tradition of religious harmony, coexistence and respect for all faiths.

Addressing the gathering, the Lieutenant Governor said the philosophy of equal respect for all religions has been an integral part of India’s civilizational ethos for millennia. He noted that while many societies continue to grapple with the challenge of coexistence, India has long embraced unity in diversity as a way of life.

Emphasising the teachings of Sanatan Dharma, the LG said India’s ancient scriptures, saints and seers have consistently advocated harmony, mutual respect and the welfare of humanity. He described the principle of “Sarva Dharma Sambhava” as India’s most valuable contribution to the world and called for collective efforts to preserve and strengthen this legacy.

The Lieutenant Governor also lauded the public response to the Vande Mataram initiative and the Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyaan, urging citizens and institutions to work together towards building a united, prosperous and drug-free society.

The conference was attended by Justice Sanjay Dhar, Chairperson J&K Waqf Board Dr. Syed Darakhshan Andrabi, Kashmir University Vice-Chancellor Prof. Nilofer Khan, academicians, religious leaders, students and senior civil and police officers. (KINS)
