2.47 Crore approved for restoration of historic Raghunath Ji Temple in Kishtwar, says MLA Shagun Parihar

Srinagar, June 10 (KINS): MLA Kishtwar Shagun Parihar has welcomed the administrative approval of ₹2.47 crore for the revival and restoration of the historic Raghunath Ji Temple in Kishtwar by the Directorate of Archives, Archaeology and Museums, Jammu and Kashmir.

Expressing gratitude to the government and the concerned department for sanctioning the project, Parihar termed the approval a significant step towards preserving Kishtwar’s rich cultural, religious and architectural heritage.

She said the restoration of the centuries-old temple would help conserve an important heritage structure while also promoting religious tourism and raising awareness about the region’s historical legacy.

The MLA congratulated the people of Kishtwar on the fulfilment of the long-pending demand and said the restoration of the Raghunath Ji Temple would further strengthen the cultural identity of the region. She expressed hope that the restoration work would be completed within a stipulated time frame while preserving the temple’s original architectural and heritage character.

Reaffirming her commitment to the overall development of Kishtwar, Parihar said that alongside infrastructure and developmental projects, the preservation of historical and religious landmarks remains equally important. She added that heritage conservation plays a vital role in connecting future generations with their roots, traditions and cultural values.

Meanwhile, local residents, devotees and members of civil society expressed gratitude to the MLA for her efforts in securing approval for the restoration of the revered shrine. They described the decision as a historic milestone for Kishtwar and said the project would help restore the grandeur of one of the region’s most revered religious sites.

The locals expressed confidence that the restoration initiative would further boost Kishtwar’s spiritual, cultural and tourism potential while attracting more pilgrims and visitors to the district.(KINS)
