Cyber Cell of J&K Police Saves ₹84,484 from Online Financial Fraud in Kupwara

Srinagar, July 20: In a significant achievement, the Cyber Cell of J&K Police successfully saved ₹84,484 from an online financial fraud case in Kupwara.
Upon receiving a complaint, the Cyber Cell initiated an investigation which revealed that the fraud was perpetrated through a fake WhatsApp call. The victim had been instructed by the fraudster to submit school fees via PhonePay.
Utilizing advanced cyber tactics, the Cyber Cell Kupwara managed to block the transactions, putting the amount on hold and thereby saving the entire sum of ₹84,484.
The Cyber Cell of J&K Police urges the public to remain vigilant against online fraud. They advise avoiding clicking on suspicious links or responding to fake SMS credit messages, refraining from installing unauthorized apps, avoiding video calls from unknown numbers, and being cautious when sharing personal information online. Suspicious activities should be reported immediately to the National Cyber Crime Helpline Number 1930 or at www.cybercrime.gov.in.
