Srinagar, July 24: The Kashmir Power Development Corporation Limited (KPDCL) is taking serious action against the frequent unauthorized use of electricity by under-construction houses and commercial buildings.
Several property owners have been charged under the Electricity Act for using power without proper authorization.
A KPDCL spokesperson said, “We have repeatedly seen under-construction properties illegally tapping into the power supply. This harms the power grid and causes financial losses. We are committed to addressing this issue.”
KPDCL has started legal proceedings against several property owners and plans to impose heavy fines to prevent future violations. “Unauthorized use of electricity is a serious offense. We hope that these fines and legal actions will discourage others from breaking the law,” the spokesperson added.
Meanwhile in its advisory KPDCL has also warned owners of under-construction houses in the Kashmir Division that strict action will be taken if they are found using electricity without authorization.
“They are advised to apply for a temporary connection with the concerned KPDCL subdivision”.
This crackdown is part of a larger effort to ensure the power supply remains reliable and secure. KPDCL urges all property owners to follow the legal procedures for obtaining power connections to avoid similar consequences.
