Police Arrest Drug Peddler in Baramulla; Contraband Recovered

Srinagar, Sep 11 (KINS): In an ongoing effort to combat drug-related offenses, police in Baramulla arrested a drug peddler and seized a substantial quantity of contraband.
Police in a statement said that a team from Police Station Pattan, led by SHO PS Pattan, set up a checkpoint at Kutta Morh near ITI Pattan and intercepted an ECO vehicle (registration number JK05N-1086), driven by Fazil Farooq, son of Farooq Ahmad Mir, a resident of Aadipora Sopore.
Upon searching the vehicle, officers recovered 21.9 kg of poppy straw-like substances. The accused has been taken into custody and is currently held at Police Station Pattan.
A case has been registered under relevant sections of the law, and further investigation is underway.
The police urge the public to report any instances of drug peddling or other crimes by contacting their nearest police station or dialing 112. Cooperation from the community is essential in the fight against drugs, and law enforcement will continue to take strong action against offenders.(KINS)
