Centre and J&K Government to Act in Accordance with Constitution: Naqvi on Statehood Restoration

New Delhi, Oct 11 : In response to National Conference Vice President Omar Abdullah’s pledge to pass a resolution seeking the restoration of Jammu and Kashmir’s statehood, BJP leader Mukhtar Abbas Naqvi emphasized that the Centre and the J&K government will jointly deliberate on the matter and implement whatever is constitutionally appropriate.
Naqvi remarked, “The recent elections in J&K were a triumph of democracy. People voted with immense enthusiasm, demonstrating their faith in democratic values and processes.”

He further emphasized that the newly formed J&K government has a constitutional duty to prioritize the welfare of the region’s citizens. “The new J&K government is entrusted with the responsibility to ensure security, respect, and prosperity for the Union Territory. Any proposals discussed between the Centre and state will be implemented in line with the Constitution,” Naqvi added.

Turning his attention to the Congress party’s critique of Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs) following their defeat in the Haryana Assembly elections, Naqvi dismissed the complaints. He stated, “The Congress is overlooking its own failures. They’re attempting to clean the mirror when the dust is on their own face.”

Naqvi also pointed to internal issues within Congress, noting that many leaders were prematurely claiming victory in Haryana. “Several Congress leaders were declaring themselves Chief Minister even before the results were out, disregarding the people’s decision,” he concluded.
