Srinagar, Oct 25 (KINS): The Indian Army Friday said that in a ruthless attempt to destabilize the peace in Kashmir, Pakistani-backed terrorists ambushed an Indian Army convoy in Butapathri, Baramulla, on 24 October.
“The convoy, carrying soldiers and local porters, was fired upon, leading to an intense exchange.
The Indian Army troops, acting swiftly, retaliated against the terrorists, forcing them to retreat. In their haste, the terrorists abandoned a weapon and a rucksack before fleeing into the dense wilderness under the cover of a nearby nala and fading light. Unfortunately, in the fierce gunfight, two brave soldiers, Rifleman Kaisar Ahmad Shah from Anantnag and Rifleman Jeevan Singh from Sirsa, made the ultimate sacrifice for the nation”.
“Their courageous stand prevented further casualties, showcasing the Indian Army’s resolve to protect Kashmir against terror threats. Riflemen Shah and Singh, despite their injuries, managed to counter the terrorists, thwarting their plans before laying down their lives”.
The attack also claimed the lives of two local porters from Kashmir, Zahoor Ahmad Mir of Boniyar and Mushtaq Ahmad Choudhary of Uri.
“Their untimely deaths underscore the brutal reality of Pakistani terror tactics, which increasingly target both soldiers and local civilians, attempting to instill fear and disrupt the region’s journey towards peace”.
The Indian Army paid tribute to the brave soldiers and porters, saluting their sacrifice in service to the nation. With profound respect for their valor, the Indian Army pledged to continue its efforts to counter terrorism, ensure security, and foster harmony in Kashmir Valley.
“Their heroism will undoubtedly inspire future generations to stand resilient against terror forces attempting to undermine Kashmir’s stability and progress” the statement reads .(KINS)
