Police Observes ‘Thana Diwas’ in Srinagar, Kupwara, Budgam & Handwara

Srinagar, Feb 13 (KINS): As part of its public outreach program, the Police organized ‘Thana Diwas’ functions at various police establishments across the valley, including in Srinagar, Kupwara, Budgam, and PD Handwara. These meetings were chaired by the respective supervisory and jurisdictional police officers.

The gatherings were attended by respected citizens, civil society members from the concerned areas, including members of Auqaf Committees, Panchayati Raj members, religious preachers, numberdars, chowkidars, the Traders Federation, and transporters, among others.

During these meetings, participants raised various issues of public importance. All grievances were heard and categorized according to the area of action and jurisdiction. Attendees were assured that grievances related to the police department would be addressed as per the law, while those outside the police department’s purview would be taken up with the relevant authorities through the established procedures.

The meetings also focused on seeking the public’s cooperation in eradicating drug abuse and social crimes. Participants were urged to work with the police to combat the drug menace and to help identify anti-national and anti-social elements who seek to disrupt the peaceful environment of the region.

The participants expressed their appreciation for the Jammu and Kashmir Police’s efforts in conducting such interactive meetings and assured their full support and cooperation in combating social evils within the community.(KINS)
