Kashmir Shuts Down in Protest After Pahalgam Terror Attack

Srinagar, April 23 (KINS): A complete shutdown is being observed across Kashmir on Wednesday in response to the recent terrorist attack in the Baisaran area of Pahalgam, located in South Kashmir’s Anantnag district.

The call for the shutdown has come jointly from Kashmir’s business community, private school associations, religious organizations, and various political parties. The protest is being held both as a mark of mourning and a show of unity against the violence.

Similar scenes of protest are unfolding in parts of Jammu, where civil society groups and political outfits have also called for a strike to condemn the killings.

Union Home Minister Amit Shah arrived in Srinagar on Tuesday evening to take stock of the evolving security situation. As part of his visit, Shah was likely to travel to Pahalgam today for an on-ground assessment and will also visit the Government Medical College in Anantnag to meet with tourists injured in the attack.(KINS)
