DG CRPF flags off 3rd Women’s high-altitude bike expedition from Lal Chowk

Srinagar, Sept 23: Director General of CRPF, GP Singh, today flagged off the third edition of the Women’s High-Altitude Bike Expedition from Lal Chowk in Srinagar.

The expedition, organised by Srinagar Sector CRPF, will cover about 1,400 kilometres from Srinagar to Pangong Tso via Khardung La (17,600 ft) and back. A total of 98 CRPF women personnel are taking part, carrying the National Flag with the message “Desh Ke Hum Hain Rakshak.”

This is the third in a series of women’s bike expeditions started by CRPF to encourage pride, confidence, and endurance among its women personnel. The first ride was held in March 2023 from Delhi to Jagdalpur, while the second in September 2023 connected Srinagar, Shillong, and Kanyakumari to Kevadia.

After the flag-off, DG CRPF GP Singh said, “I congratulate all the riders starting this expedition from the historic Lal Chowk. I also thank the people of Kashmir for their support.”

The nine-day expedition, from September 23 to October 1, will pass through some of the toughest routes in Ladakh and Kashmir. Excited participants said they were looking forward to the journey, with one rider adding, “Our main aim is to complete the expedition safely.”(KINS)
