Srinagar, Apr 22 (KINS): One year after the terror attack in Baisaran Pahalgam, Kashmir is once again witnessing a steady return of tourists, with visitors expressing confidence in the security arrangements and praising the hospitality of local people.
Security has been tightened across the Valley, especially in tourist destinations such as Srinagar, Pahalgam and other popular spots. Police and paramilitary personnel are maintaining a strong presence to ensure the safety of visitors on the first anniversary of the April 22, 2025 attack, in which 26 people were killed.
The heightened security and coordinated efforts by the administration have reassured visitors, many of whom said they felt completely safe during their stay.
A tourist from Ahmedabad said, “I have come here from Ahmedabad. The weather is so good here. Locals are good too. We do not feel any fear here; it feels good. People should come here for a visit…”
Another visitor from Mumbai said, “I have come from Mumbai. The atmosphere here felt great. It felt like home. People should come here and enjoy. It has been a year since the terrorist attack (in Pahalgam). But now the atmosphere here is not scary. We felt safe everywhere. People here are good and cooperative.”
Tourists have also appreciated the role of the security forces, whose round-the-clock presence has helped create a sense of confidence. Security personnel deployed at hotels, roads and tourist locations have been ensuring that visitors can travel freely and enjoy their stay without fear.
Authorities have also introduced several new measures in Pahalgam, including background verification of pony operators, vendors and other service providers before they interact with tourists.
The return of tourists is being seen as a strong message that Kashmir continues to stand resilient and that people are refusing to let terrorism overshadow the Valley’s beauty, warmth and spirit.(KINS)
