J&K Police intensify drive against Bhang Cultivation

Srinagar, Aug 11 (KINS): As part of its sustained efforts to curb drug abuse and prevent the availability of narcotic substances, J&K Police, in coordination with the Excise Department, conducted extensive destruction drives against wild cannabis and illegally cultivated bhang in Ganderbal and Kulgam districts.

In Ganderbal, Police and Excise Department teams conducted a joint drive along the Nagbal–Shuhama–Pandach road stretch. During the operation, teams thoroughly inspected roadside areas and identified wild cannabis plants growing at various locations. The plants were uprooted and destroyed on the spot, thereby preventing their potential misuse for the preparation of narcotic substances.

Similarly, in Kulgam, Police, in collaboration with the Excise Department, carried out a massive destruction drive against illegally cultivated bhang in the Bagh-i-Sakhloo and Larm Ganjipora areas. The operation forms part of the ongoing campaign to eliminate drug cultivation and curb substance abuse in the district.

The coordinated actions underscore the commitment of Jammu and Kashmir Police and the Excise Department towards preventing drug-related activities and maintaining a safe and drug-free environment. Such drives are aimed at protecting the younger generation and the wider community from the harmful effects of substance abuse.

J&K Police reiterated their resolve to continue sustained and stringent action against the cultivation, possession, trafficking and use of narcotic substances. The public has also been urged to extend full cooperation to the law-enforcement agencies and promptly report any information regarding illegal cultivation or other drug-related activities to the nearest Police Station.(KINS)
