Srinagar, Aug 11 (KINS): Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kashmir V K Birdi on Tuesday said multi-tier security arrangements have been put in place across Kashmir ahead of the Independence Day celebrations on August 15.
Speaking during a visit to Balidan Stambh at Lal Chowk to review preparations, Birdi said security has been strengthened at the main venues as well as across Srinagar and other districts of the Valley.
He said full-dress rehearsals and other preparations for the main Independence Day function in Srinagar are underway.
On recent terror attacks in South Kashmir, Birdi said the investigations are ongoing and details would be shared when appropriate.
The IGP also appealed to people to participate in the Independence Day celebrations in large numbers, calling it a public event. (KINS)
