Javid Beigh seeks intervention over non-availability of construction materials in Baramulla

Arshid Farooq
Baramulla, Aug 12 (KINS): Baramulla MLA Javid Beigh on Wednesday said execution of developmental projects was not possible without the availability of essential construction materials such as sand, bajri and stones.
Talking to the media, Beigh said massive developmental projects had been sanctioned across Jammu and Kashmir by the Omar Abdullah-led government, but questioned how these projects could be executed in the absence of the required materials.
“The question arises how these projects can be executed without having required materials like sand, bajri and stones,” he said, according to news agency Kashmir Indepth News Service (KINS).
Beigh said stone quarries in Baramulla were not being allowed to extract the material, affecting the availability of construction resources.
He said he supported measures to prevent the misuse and exploitation of natural resources, in line with the observations of the Supreme Court, but maintained that materials should be made available when required for genuine developmental purposes.
“We are with the government that there has to be no misuse and abuse of natural resources as also observed by the Supreme Court. But if it has to be used for genuine purpose, then how can we stop them? Without these materials, how can we execute the already sanctioned projects?” he said.
The MLA appealed to Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha, Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, Deputy Chief Minister, Divisional Commissioner Kashmir, Deputy Commissioner Baramulla and SSP Baramulla to intervene and look into the matter. (KINS)
