Teachers’ Day: Motivational Speaker Syed Saeed Ahmad Stresses Child Upbringing and Parenting

Pulwama, Sep 05(KINS): When Teachers’ Day was being celebrated all over Jammu and Kashmir, a special event was held at 7C’s School in Lurgam, Aripal Tral, where a renowned motivational speaker Syed Saeed Ahmad spoke to the teachers and parents, with a focus on child rearing, parenting and personality development.
Ahmad pointed out in his speech that bringing up a child is not simply a matter of providing for their basic needs; genuine upbringing consists in shaping the child’s character, habits, behaviour and personality. He emphasized the process of developing a person into a personality and stated that the family environment has a vital role in influencing a child’s behaviour and character.
Stressing the importance of parents, he stated that children mainly learn by observing and hearing what their parents do. It follows that parents should form good habits and show positive behaviour before their children, since children often learn from what they see at home.
Ahmad also emphasized the need to give children time, show them attention and provide them with emotional support. He advised parents to spend high-quality time with their children, and to talk to them by giving them proper attention and making eye contact.
He stressed that parents should not merely talk to their children but should also take the time to listen to them, highlighting the importance of understanding what children think, feel, and see.
He also emphasized that childhood should be respected and valued, and he advised parents to take on a significant role in their children’s thoughts and experiences rather than just giving them instructions.
When talking about the increasing influence of social media and mobile phones, Ahmad stated that if children do not get enough attention, response, and companionship from their parents, they will tend to turn to mobile phones and social media for company.
He therefore asked that parents should be there for their children, listen to them, support them and develop strong relationships with them. (KINS)
