Bandipora, Sep 28 (KINS): A joint enforcement drive was conducted in the main market of Bandipora to clear encroachments, remove obstructions from footpaths and curb traffic violations, officials said.
The drive was carried out jointly by Bandipora Police, Traffic Police, the Assistant Regional Transport Office (ARTO), Tehsildar and Municipal Council officials.
During the inspection, encroachments on footpaths were removed to facilitate pedestrian movement, while vehicles parked on roads and obstructing traffic were towed away. The ARTO team also imposed fines for various violations, while Traffic Police issued challans to vehicles found violating traffic rules.
Officials said the drive was aimed at keeping footpaths accessible to pedestrians and ensuring that roads remain free from unnecessary obstructions.
The Bandipora Police team, headed by the DySP Headquarters, warned shopkeepers, drivers and others against repeating violations and said action would be taken under relevant rules in case of non-compliance.
Officials said similar enforcement drives would be conducted regularly to prevent encroachments, illegal parking and traffic violations from recurring in the market.
Local residents welcomed the joint action and urged authorities to maintain regular enforcement to ease congestion and ensure smoother pedestrian and vehicular movement in Bandipora town.(KINS)
