Jammu and Kashmir Police on Wednesday claimed to have arrested a militant associate in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district.

A police spokesman in a statement said that he has been identified as Rayees Ahmad Lone resident of Gund, Ganderbal.

“As per the police records, he is involved in providing support to the active LeT militants operating in the area. Initial investigation reveals that the accused had supplied multiple SIM cards to militants affiliated with proscribed outfit LeT,” said the spokesman.

“As per police records he had also provided help and assistance to a Pakistani militant who was later killed in an encounter at Kullan Ganderbal in year 2019,”he said.

“A Case FIR No. 69/2019 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Gund in the instant matter. Further investigation is in progress,” said police spokesman in a statement.
