Harsh Dev Calls on LG

Jammu, NOV 16 ( KINS) Projecting the issues of the common masses in general and those of district Udhampur in particular,  Harsh Dev Singh chairman JKNPP and former minister today submitted a memorandum to the Lt Governor at Raj Bhawan Jammu today seeking his personal indulgence for mitigating the sufferings of the people. He was accompanied by Gagan Pratap Singh state secretary JKNPP.

Emphasizing the need of focussed attention towards the deplorable plight of the people inhabiting the remote areas,  Singh called for special funding for such areas in view of chronic deficiency of basic facilities faced by them. Giving a list of dozens of villages of Chenani-Ghordi, Dudu Basantgarh and Ramnagar blocks,  Singh sought adequate grants for them for catering to their drinking water and power supply problems. He brought to the notice of the Lt Governor, the acute deficiency of staff in health and educational institutes in remote areas and the non compliance with the stipulated policies and guidelines in the matter posting of staff. He drew the attention of the LG towards lack of internet connectivity in far flung villages resulting in huge losses to the academic pursuits of the students residing therein due to non holding of online classes.

Alleging large scale pilferage of ration and irregularities in CAPD deptt,  Singh said that ration cards of thousands of beneficiaries in district Udhampur alone had been deactivated with the concerned officers of the deptt maintaining a criminal silence over the issue. Hundreds of ration card holders in almost every panchayat had been deprived of ration facility for months together. In several villages, the beneficians had to travel huge distance for hours together to reach the nearest ration depot thereby defeating the very purpose of the scheme, divulged Singh while demanding opening of new ration depots at certain locations.

Pointing towards the growing unrest amongst the educated unemployed youth,  Singh called for filling up of all vacant posts on fast track basis. He called for sympathetic consideration of the issues of daily rated workers of PHE, PWD, PDD, I&FC, contractual employees of NHM, MGNREGA, Education, SPOs, VDCs, BSF and CISF aspirants, REK, NYCs, NYVs, Dental surgeons, ousted employees of H&ME Deptt, Anganwari and Asha workers. The Lt Governor gave a patient hearing to issues projected by NPP Chairman and assured all possible support for redressing the grievances of the people. ( KINS)
