Srinagar : Though the temperature recorded in Srinagar has broke nearly 3-decade-old record in the Valley while as the local Meteorological department (MeT) on Friday predicted improvement in the temperature after December 31st.

Srinagar recorded the coldest night of the season at minus 7.7 degree Celsius.

The water bodies including the world famous Dal Lake froze on Friday morning.

Minus 7.6 degree Celsius was recorded almost 28-years back, the officials had said on Thursday.

Deputy Director Meteorological (MeT) department, Mukhtar Ahmad told KNS that the minimum temperature will improve from Dec 31 (Monday), saying that the Valley would receive fresh snowfall or rainfall in the first week of January.
