Gunfight breaks out in Shopian village

 

Srinagar, February 27: A Predawn Gunfight rages between militants and goverment forces in Memander area of South Kashmir’s Shopain district on Wednesday.

Reports said that a joint team of army’s 23 PARA, CRPF and SOG launched cordon and search operation in Memandar.

A senior Police official told news agency that acting on a specific information about presence of some militants in the area, forces launched cordon and search operation in the area.

The officer further said that as the joint team of forces intensified searches towards suspected spot the hiding militants fired upon goverment forces triggering an encounter.

As per the official sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

While this report was being filed intermittent firing was going on.(GNS)
