658 gold-coloured copper pieces recovered during Naka checking in Qazigund

Qazigund, Sept 18 (KINS): During naka checking on the NH near Vessu, Qazigund, police intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number MP09CS0451 and detained three persons travelling in it for questioning.
During a search, 658 gold-coloured biscuits/coins, each weighing around 0.98 grams, were recovered from the occupants under suspicious circumstances. The material was seized for examination and analysis.
Police said testing revealed that the items were copper plates coated with gold-coloured material and not pure gold.
A preliminary inquiry has been initiated at Police Station Qazigund vide DD Report No. 16 dated September 17, 2026, and Order No. SDPO/Q/PE/8230 dated September 18, 2026, to ascertain the source, intended use and circumstances surrounding the material.
Further inquiry is underway.(KINS)
