Congress send names of shortlisted candidates for Lok Sabha polls to High command

Ahead of the announcement of notification for the Lok Sabha elections in Jammu and Kashmir, the state unit of Congress Saturday said that it has forwarded the complete list of shortlist candidates for all the seats from the state to high command for final selection.

Sources told that as the Election commission of India is announcing the Lok sabha poll dates for the Lok Sabha elections in all the states including Jammu and Kashmir state in the coming week, the Congress took a lead in announcing its probable candidates for the Parliamentary seats.

Reliable sources told news agency that Congress has suggested four names for Srinagar Parliamentary constituency including Tariq Hameed Karra, Kadfeen Choudhary, Farooq Andrabi and Abdul Gani Khan, two names have been suggested from South Kashmir–Peerzada Muhammad Sayeed and Ghulam Ahmed Mir while Taj Mohiudin and Ghulam Nabi Monga and Saifudin Soz are the names suggested for north Kashmir Lok Sabha seat.

For Jammu, Madan Lal Sharma and for Udhampur Vikramaditya Singh has been shortlisted. Sources said that polls will be held in April in phases.

Though sources said that though there has been no official announcement in this regard, sources said that some of the leaders in the shortlist have been asked by the party high command to tighten the belt and go ahead with their election campaign for the respective Parliamentary seats.

Sources said that for Congress, senior Congress leader Ghulam Nabi Azad will be the chief campaigner for the Lok Sabha polls in J&K. (KNS)
