Budgam Encounter: One militant killed, search operation on

 

 

Srinagar, June 28 : A militant has been killed in ongoing operation after a fierce gunfight broke out between militants and goverment forces at Gund Checkpora area of Kanipora, Nowgam in central Kashmir’s Budgam district on Friday pre-dawn hours.

Official sources told that one militant body has been recovered from the encounter site amid search operation underway. The identity of the slain militant is yet to be ascertained.

Earlier Reports said that a joint team of army’s 50 RR, SOG and CRPF launched a cordon-and-search operation at Gund Checkpora area of Kanipora, Nowgam late last night.

An officer said that as the joint team intensified searches at around 3:15 am, the hiding militants opened indiscriminate fire and hurled grenade, the fire was retaliated leading to an encounter. (GNS)
