J&K UT: Hunt for new Advisors to LG begin

‘Many names make rounds, stalemate to end soon’

Srinagar, Oct 31 : As the first-ever Lieutenant Governor Girish Chandra Murmu took oath on Thursday, the hunt for new Advisors to the LG has begun in Jammu and Kashmir with sources revealing that many names are coming to the fore and decision in this regard will be taken soon.

The Jammu and Kashmir ceased to be a State in the intervening night of October 30 (Wednesday)-October 31 (Thursday) as the two Union Territories including Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh come into the existence today.

The central government decided to bifurcate the State into two Union Territories and annulled the special status of Jammu and Kashmir (Article 370) on August 5, the decision was implemented today (October 31), the day which is being observed as the anniversary of Sardar Valla Bhai Patel.

Sources told the wire service – that the authorities have started a hunt for the Advisors to first-ever LG of Jammu and Kashmir. They said many names have come to the fore, but the concerned government has not taken any decision in this regard yet.

They said that many names including BJP leader Khalid Jehangir and Priya Sethi has been sent to the concerned officials for the appointment of Advisors to first-ever LG, but there was no word by the authorities yet.

Sources further told that the government will soon make an announcement regarding the appointment of Advisors to first-ever LG, adding that the deliberations are going on and the stalemate will end soon.

The Ladakh’s first-ever LG, Radha Krishna Mathur took oath today in Leh too, while the government has appointed IAS officer, Umang Narola as his first Advisor. Pertinently, the government has appointed SS Khandari as the first-ever Inspector General of Police (IGP) Ladakh. (KNO)
