Srinagar, Jan 24(KINS): Police in its recent action against drug dealings in Srinagar and Handwara have arrested three drug peddlers and recovered contraband substances from their possession.
Police in a statement issued here said, “In Srinagar, officers at a check point established at Baba dem near fountain intercepted a person identified as Ashiq Hussain kumar resident of Kralpora Nunwani Anantnag. During search, officers were able to recover 170 grms of Cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station M. R. Gunj where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR number 05/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station M. R. Gunj and investigation into the matter has been initiated.
In another action, officers at a check point established near Grills Restaurant Nigeen, intercepted a person identified as Tawheed Ahmad Khan resident of Dhobigath Hazratbal Srinagar. During search, officers were able to recover 05 grams of Heroin from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Nigeen where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 04/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Nigeen and investigation in the matter has been initiated.
In Handwara, acting swiftly on reliable information, officers at a check point established at S-Bendand Langate intercepted a person identified as Javid Ahmad Malik resident of Guloora. During search, officers were able to recover 04 kilograms of Cannabis from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to Police Station where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No 14/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Handwara and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
