Dr Karan Singh urges Govt to ensure security of apple transporting procedure

JAMMU: Strongly condemning the brutal killing of non-local labourers and truck drivers in Kashmir, former Sadar-e-Riyasat Dr Karan Singh has urged the Government to take all necessary steps to ensure the security of the apple transporting procedure and to bring the criminals to book as soon as possible.

In a statement, issued here today, he said it is ironical that drivers from around the country, who are in the Valley to help the people of Kashmir and transporting the apple crops to the mandis are being killed and their trucks set on fire.

This shows that the perpetrators of these crimes are least concerned about the welfare of the Kashmiris who have already suffered losses due to the collapse of tourism since August, Dr Karan Singh said.
