Rohingyas, other infiltrators to be ousted from J&K through NRC: J&K BJP

‘Delimitation committee to be constituted by end of December 2019’

Srinagar, Dec 03 : The Rohingyas and other infiltrators present in the Jammu and Kashmir will be expelled soon, Bharatiya Janata Party’s (BJP) Jammu and Kashmir unit said on Tuesday.

The statement comes a day after the Union Home Minister Amit Shah set a 2024 deadline for implementing the hugely divisive NRC across the country, stating “each and every” infiltrator will be identified and expelled before the next general election

BJP General Secretary (organization), Ashok Koul told the wire service—that National Register of Citizens (NRC) will be held soon in Jammu and Kashmir, which was recently transited into Union Territory from a State.

Koul said that the government has resolved to expel ‘each and every infiltrator’ from across the country. “The NRC will too be held in Jammu and Kashmir and the Rohingyas who have come from Bangladesh and other people who have infiltrated here will be expelled and send back to their places,” he said.

He further told that process in this regard would likely start in next year. Meanwhile, the BJP leader when asked about delimitation of Jammu and Kashmir’s legislature said that the committee in this regard will be constituted, who will take the decision accordingly.

Koul also said that delimitation committee will be constituted by the end of December 2019. Earlier, BJP leader had also stated that the delimitation committee in Jammu and Kashmir will be headed by a senior High court judge, stating that the committee will take any decision after looking into all the aspects including, area, population and other things.
