Div Com tours City, reviews snow clearance works

SRINAGAR, DECEMBER 13: Divisional Commissioner, Kashmir Baseer Ahmad Khan today conducted extensive tour of Srinagar City to inspect snow clearance works, besides reviewing other essential services.

Deputy Commissioner, Srinagar, Dr Shahid Iqbal Choudhary, Additional Commissioner, Kashmir, Bilal Ahmad Bhat, Chief Engineers of Mechanical (MED), R&B, PDD and PHE, Commissioner SMC, Khurshid Ahmad Sanai, Director Urban Local Bodies, Principal GMC, SSP Traffic, Joint Director Fire & Emergency Services, Deputy Directors of Health services and FCS&CA and other concerned officers accompanied the Divisional Commissioner.

During the tour, the Divisional Commissioner visited Jehangir Chowk, Budshah Chowk, M.A. Road, TRC crossing, Church lane, Sonwar, Sheerwani Road, Polo View, Regal Chowk, Lal Chowk, Amira Kadal, Hari Singh Street, New Sectariet Road, Batmalloo and other areas of City to review snow clearance work and other essential services.

The Divisional Commissioner directed Mechanical Engineering Department to ensure snow clearance on all the roads especially those leading to important installations like hospitals and receiving stations. He also directed the officials of Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) and Urban Local Bodies (ULB) to ensure snow clearance of all lanes and by-lanes, besides ensuring deployment of dewatering pumps at low lying areas, in case of waterlogging.

Reviewing the electricity, water & ration supply, traffic movement and other essential services, Khan passed strict instructions to the concerned officers to ensure prompt and hassle free services to the public so that they do not face any inconvenience during snowfall.

Later, Divisional Commissioner visited G.B. Pant Hospital at Sonwar and took first hand appraisal of the healthcare facilities and heating arrangements being provided to the patients.

He inspected various wards and also interacted with the patients who informed him about the facilities being provided to them.

The Divisional Commissioner reviewed adequate stock of medicines & oxygen, duty roaster of doctors with paramedical staff, sanitation and other facilities. He stressed upon the officials of Health Department to provide best health care facilities to the new-borns round the clock.
