Gulmarg freezes at minus 11.5, Pahalgam at minus 10.3

Srinagar : Cold wave conditions continued in the Kashmir Valley on Wednesday as minimum temperatures remained below the freezing point.

Gulmarg in north Kashmir was the coldest place in the Valley where minimum temperature was minus 11.5 degrees.

Srinagar, the summer capital of the state recorded a low of minus 3.7 while the mercury in Qazigund in south Kashmir settled at a low of minus 8.0 degrees Celsius.

The night temperature in Pahalgam – the famous health resort which also serves as one of the base camps for the annual Amarnath Yatra – settled at a low of minus 10.3 degrees.

Kokernag town recorded a low of minus 6.4 degrees Celsius while Kupwara town in north Kashmir registered a low of minus 4.6 degrees Celsius last night.

Jammu city recorded 4.8 degrees Celsius, Katra 4.6, Batote minus 1.3, Banihal recorded minus 0.3 and Bhaderwah recorded minus 3.2 degrees Celsius as the night’s lowest temperatures.
